Vintage GILBERT ALBERT 18k Gold VS Diamond Blue Azurite Sapphire Pearl Necklace Brooch/Pendant
This impressive vintage 1960s-70s necklace pendant / brooch was created by famed jewelry designer GILBERT ALBERT. It is set in an organic freeform 18k yellow gold setting with a large central stunning blue azurite gemstone measuring 25mm in length by 26mm in width. featuring druzy style openings. The piece is further set with 3 oval cabochon blue sapphire gemstones totaling 1.84 carats, as well as two pear shaped blue sapphire cabochons totaling 0.71 carats. The piece is set with two natural pearls at the bottom of the piece and accented with brilliant cut white diamonds as well. The total diamond weight is approximately 0.27 carats.
The piece is marked "750" for 18k gold purity and with the maker's signature and serial numeral edition.
This piece measures 2.25" in length by 1" in width.
The weight of the pendant is 26.9 grams.

"Gilbert Albert was born in 1930 in Geneva. He passed away in October 2019. He began training in jewellery and design at the age 15 at l'Ecole des Arts Industries. His talent was spotted by Patek Philippe when he was only 25. He worked there as designer and head of the workshop for seven years, during which time he developed signature asymmetrical watches for the house. He later worked with the innovative Omega watchmakers and opened hisown atelier in 1962. During his time at Patek Philippe and Omega he won several Diamonds-International Awards.
When Gilbert Albert founded his atelier, he developed new methods that enabled him to work with unusual materials such as fossils, feathers, fur,petrified organic forms, minerals, and meteorites.
To acknowledge the mastery and creative talent behind the brand, it is enough to remember that at the International Exhibition of Modern Jewelery which was held at Goldsmiths Hall, London, the following great names took part; Rene Lalique, Tiffany, Georg Jensen, Faberge, Manolo, Calder, Picasso, Pomodoro, Giacometti, Afro, Jean Lurçat and Jean Schlumberger, but nevertheless, a glance at the official catalog shows that only two artists had the privilege of having five of their designs reproduced - René Lalique and Gilbert Albert.
For the last sixty years, the brand amazed the world with impeccable craftsmanship and unique ideas. The collections have been exhibited in Prague, Paris, New York, London, Johannesburg, Antwerp, Brussels, Copenhagen, Tokyo, Osaka, Milan, Salzburg, Vienna, Sapporo, São Paulo, Lisbon and Dubai. He was the first living artist since 1917 who was invited to show his creations in the Kremlin. Moscow. Pieces and sets by Gilbert Albert have been auctioned many times by Christie's and Sothebys.
